The Role: We’re looking for 2–3 ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyors to join an established London main contractor and bolster their growing commercial team.
The roles will be site-based, working on high-quality projects across Mayfair and the West End, with sites conveniently located close to London Underground stations. This is an excellent opportunity for Assistant-level Surveyors looking to gain strong project exposure and progress within an experienced commercial team.
Key Responsibilities - Support the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account
- Assist with subcontractor procurement, tender enquiries and package comparisons
- Assess subcontractor applications and assist with payment processes
- Support valuations, variations and change control
- Monitor project costs against budgets and forecasts
- Assist with CVRs and monthly commercial reporting
- Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation
- Attend site, subcontractor and commercial meetings
- Work closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and the wider project team
- Assist with the negotiation and agreement of subcontractor final accounts
- Develop an understanding of project risks and commercial opportunities
Requirements - Previous experience at Assistant Quantity Surveyor level
- Experience working for a main contractor or specialist contractor would be advantageous
- Degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying or a construction-related discipline preferred
- Good understanding of construction processes and commercial principles
- Strong numerical, communication and organisational skills
- Comfortable working in a site-based environment
- Ambitious and keen to progress within an established commercial team
- Able to commute easily into Central London, with projects based around Mayfair and the West End
