I’m working with a well-established civil engineering contractor that’s now expanding into the rail sector and looking to appoint a Commercial Manager to play a key role in developing this new division.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong commercial and estimating experience in rail projects, who’s also confident building relationships and developing business through existing industry connections.
You’ll be involved in everything from pre-contract estimating and tender management through to commercial delivery and client engagement on live rail projects. This role offers a genuine chance to help shape and grow a new business area within a highly respected infrastructure contractor.
The Role:
- Lead all commercial and estimating activity across rail projects
- Support tender submissions and early pricing for new opportunities
- Build and strengthen relationships with key rail clients and frameworks
- Oversee cost management, forecasting, and contract negotiations
- Identify and secure new business opportunities through existing contacts
- Support and mentor junior members of the commercial team
The Person:
- Proven background in commercial management or estimating within the rail / infrastructure sector
- Strong understanding of Network Rail processes and compliance
- Confident managing both pre- and post-contract commercial activity
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Well-connected within the rail industry, with a proactive approach to business development
