Commercial Manager – Highways Contractor | £85K+ Package | South East / National Projects We are working with a leading highways and infrastructure contractor delivering major roadworks, junction improvements, S278 works, and long-term frameworks across the South East and nationally.
They are now seeking a commercially astute Commercial Manager with 10+ years’ experience in the highways and civil engineering sector to lead the commercial function across multiple live and upcoming projects.
The Role: - Oversee the full commercial lifecycle on multiple highway projects ranging from £5m–£50m.
- Lead and manage a team of Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff.
- Prepare, review, and monitor CVRs, forecasts, cashflows, and commercial reports.
- Lead contractual negotiations and manage client relationships (NEC3/4 and bespoke contracts).
- Identify and manage commercial risks, variations, and opportunities.
- Support tendering and pre-construction teams during bidding and pricing stages.
- Report to senior leadership and work closely with operations and delivery teams.
What We’re Looking For: - 10+ years of commercial experience in highways and civil engineering, ideally in a senior QS or Commercial Manager role.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and highways maintenance/construction schemes.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Strategic thinker with attention to detail and the ability to challenge commercial decisions.
