The Role We are looking for an experienced
Working Foreman to support the day-to-day running of site operations, ensuring projects are delivered
safely, on time, and to a high standard.
You’ll work closely with the Construction Manager, taking a hands-on approach to managing trades, coordinating subcontractors, and maintaining quality across the project. A background in carpentry and a strong eye for detail would be highly beneficial.
Key Responsibilities Site Operations - Assist in managing and delivering the construction programme
- Ensure works are completed on time and to the required quality standards
- Coordinate subcontractors and trades to maintain programme targets
- Organise labour, including agency staff where required
- Monitor deliveries and resolve any issues quickly to avoid delays
- Identify and manage snagging throughout the project, ensuring a high-quality finish
Workforce Management - Support the day-to-day management of site teams and subcontractors
- Maintain productivity, standards, and site discipline
- Lead by example with strong work ethic, punctuality, and professionalism
- Handle any on-site issues or disputes, keeping records where necessary
Site Administration & Control - Ensure all drawings and documentation are up to date and accurate
- Maintain site records, including diaries and labour tracking
- Manage site welfare, cleanliness, and organisation
- Oversee site opening/closing procedures and overall security
- Ensure visitors are logged and supervised at all times
Health & Safety - Take responsibility for site Health & Safety in the absence of senior management
- Ensure compliance with all HSE and CDM regulations
- Review RAMS and ensure safe working practices are followed
- Carry out site inspections and toolbox talks
- Identify and mitigate risks on site
Client & Design Team Liaison - Support communication with clients, consultants, and architects
- Assist with RFIs, variations, and site instructions
- Maintain strong relationships to ensure smooth project delivery
Requirements - Proven experience as a Working Foreman or similar role
- Background in construction, ideally carpentry
- Strong understanding of site operations and programme management
- Experience managing subcontractors and trades on site
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Computer literate (site systems, reporting, etc.)
- First Aid qualified (preferred)
