Working Foreman

The Role We are looking for an experienced Working Foreman to support the day-to-day running of site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard.

You’ll work closely with the Construction Manager, taking a hands-on approach to managing trades, coordinating subcontractors, and maintaining quality across the project. A background in carpentry and a strong eye for detail would be highly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities Site Operations
  • Assist in managing and delivering the construction programme
  • Ensure works are completed on time and to the required quality standards
  • Coordinate subcontractors and trades to maintain programme targets
  • Organise labour, including agency staff where required
  • Monitor deliveries and resolve any issues quickly to avoid delays
  • Identify and manage snagging throughout the project, ensuring a high-quality finish
Workforce Management
  • Support the day-to-day management of site teams and subcontractors
  • Maintain productivity, standards, and site discipline
  • Lead by example with strong work ethic, punctuality, and professionalism
  • Handle any on-site issues or disputes, keeping records where necessary
Site Administration & Control
  • Ensure all drawings and documentation are up to date and accurate
  • Maintain site records, including diaries and labour tracking
  • Manage site welfare, cleanliness, and organisation
  • Oversee site opening/closing procedures and overall security
  • Ensure visitors are logged and supervised at all times
Health & Safety
  • Take responsibility for site Health & Safety in the absence of senior management
  • Ensure compliance with all HSE and CDM regulations
  • Review RAMS and ensure safe working practices are followed
  • Carry out site inspections and toolbox talks
  • Identify and mitigate risks on site
Client & Design Team Liaison
  • Support communication with clients, consultants, and architects
  • Assist with RFIs, variations, and site instructions
  • Maintain strong relationships to ensure smooth project delivery
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Working Foreman or similar role
  • Background in construction, ideally carpentry
  • Strong understanding of site operations and programme management
  • Experience managing subcontractors and trades on site
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Computer literate (site systems, reporting, etc.)
  • First Aid qualified (preferred)
