Assistant Superintendent - Mixed Commercial

About the Role: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Superintendent to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will support the Superintendent in managing all field operations on commercial construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a reputable general contractor and grow into a leadership role.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Superintendent in coordinating and supervising all on-site construction activities.
  • Enforce project safety, quality control, and cleanliness standards.
  • Support daily jobsite operations including scheduling, inspections, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Monitor project progress and report issues or delays to the Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Conduct and document daily jobsite logs, safety meetings, and progress reports.
  • Help maintain project schedule by coordinating with trades and suppliers.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, and company standards.
  • Attend project meetings and assist with punch list and closeout activities.
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of construction experience, preferably in commercial construction (retail, office, hospitality, institutional, etc.).
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, and safety regulations.
  • Proficient with construction software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project) a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Working Conditions:
  • Full-time role with work performed primarily on active construction sites.
  • May require extended hours, weekend work, and travel depending on project needs.
  • Physical ability to navigate active construction sites, including climbing ladders and walking on uneven surfaces.
