Position Overview A leading California general contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager with DSA project experience to oversee school and public sector construction projects across Southern California. This role manages projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring compliance with DSA regulations, budget adherence, and schedule performance.
Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & Execution
  • Manage multiple DSA-regulated projects from preconstruction to completion.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and forecasts.
  • Lead project meetings, including OAC and coordination meetings with design teams and subcontractors.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance, scopes, and contract administration.
DSA Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
  • Ensure projects comply with California Division of the State Architect (DSA) requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections, approvals, and required documentation for regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain all records and logs in accordance with public works and DSA standards.
Financial & Contract Management
  • Track project costs, productivity, and progress toward budget goals.
  • Lead change order development, pricing, and negotiation.
  • Manage risk and ensure contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Client & Team Communication
  • Serve as primary contact for owners, architects, and consultants.
  • Collaborate closely with field teams, superintendents, and engineers.
  • Mentor junior staff and support development of assistant project managers.
Preconstruction & Strategy Support
  • Participate in estimating, value engineering, and constructability reviews.
  • Support pursuit strategy for future DSA projects.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience managing K-12, higher education, or public works construction projects.
  • Proven experience with DSA-regulated school or educational facilities projects.
  • Strong knowledge of California public works regulations, inspection processes, and documentation.
  • Experience managing multiple trades and fast-track schedules.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
