Estimator – Electrical Contractor Location: Los Angeles, CA

Position Overview A well-established electrical contractor in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Estimator to support preconstruction and bidding efforts for commercial and institutional electrical projects. This role is responsible for producing accurate estimates, coordinating with project management, and supporting successful bid pursuits throughout the LA market.
Key Responsibilities Electrical Estimating & Preconstruction

• Prepare detailed electrical estimates for commercial projects including ground-up and tenant improvement work.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for power, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems (as applicable).
• Review plans, specifications, and addenda to fully understand project scope.
• Solicit, review, and level vendor and subcontractor pricing.

Bid Management & Analysis

• Develop bid summaries, scope sheets, and clarifications.
• Identify project risks, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities.
• Coordinate with project managers and operations teams during bid handoff.
• Assist with change order pricing during construction as needed.

Collaboration & Communication

• Interface with general contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, walkthroughs, and design coordination meetings.
• Maintain organized estimating files and historical cost data.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience with an electrical contractor.
• Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems and construction methods.
• Experience estimating projects in the Los Angeles / Southern California market.
• Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software such as Accubid, Trimble, Bluebeam, or similar tools.
• Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
