Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of commercial construction projects. The Estimator will work closely with the preconstruction, project management, and executive teams to evaluate project requirements, develop pricing strategies, and support winning new work. This role is critical for maintaining the company's reputation for precision, competitiveness, and professionalism in the bidding process.
Key Responsibilities: Estimating & Cost Analysis
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop complete cost estimates.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted work.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring scope and pricing accuracy.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and recommend cost-saving alternatives when applicable.
Bid Management & Proposal Development
  • Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, budgets, and design-build pricing packages.
  • Work closely with preconstruction and project managers to establish winning bid strategies.
  • Participate in bid reviews, client interviews, and project handoffs to ensure a smooth transition to construction.
Market Research & Risk Analysis
  • Monitor market trends, material pricing, and labor rates to maintain competitive and current cost databases.
  • Assess project risks, logistical challenges, and permitting requirements to refine cost projections.
  • Track historical costs to improve future estimate accuracy and project forecasting.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and internal teams during preconstruction efforts.
  • Support subcontractor outreach and prequalification efforts to strengthen project bids.
  • Maintain organized estimate files and documentation for easy retrieval and reference.
Qualifications: Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 3–7 years of estimating experience in commercial, industrial, or public works construction.
  • Strong experience performing detailed quantity take-offs and cost analysis.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in estimating and take-off software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, Sage Estimating, Procore, or HCSS HeavyBid.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, subcontractor scopes, and bid packaging.
