Job Summary: We are seeking an
experienced and highly skilled Senior Project Manager with a
strong background in healthcare construction to oversee complex medical facility projects across
California. The
Senior Project Manager will be responsible for managing the
full project lifecycle, from
preconstruction through completion, ensuring
compliance with OSHPD/HCAI (Health Care Access and Information) regulations, maintaining project budgets and schedules, and fostering strong relationships with
clients, architects, engineers, and regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities: Healthcare Project Management & Execution: - Oversee all phases of healthcare construction projects, ensuring compliance with OSHPD/HCAI regulations.
- Lead the preconstruction process, including budgeting, scheduling, permitting, and value engineering.
- Develop detailed project schedules, tracking milestones, and ensuring on-time delivery.
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, and consultants, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Ensure proper coordination of MEP systems, medical equipment installation, and infection control measures in active healthcare environments.
Financial Oversight & Budget Management: - Establish and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and accurate financial forecasting.
- Approve change orders, invoices, and subcontractor payments, ensuring cost alignment with project goals.
- Work closely with executive leadership and accounting teams to optimize financial performance.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination: - Act as the primary liaison for healthcare clients, medical facility administrators, and regulatory agencies.
- Foster strong relationships with HCAI representatives, architects, engineers, and general contractors.
- Lead client and project team meetings, providing updates on project status, challenges, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Address client concerns and project scope adjustments while maintaining a customer-focused approach.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety: - Ensure compliance with all healthcare construction regulations, including OSHPD/HCAI, ADA, fire safety, and infection control.
- Work closely with HCAI inspectors and officials, ensuring smooth approvals and inspections.
- Implement project-specific safety protocols, ensuring alignment with hospital infection control requirements.
Team Leadership & Development: - Mentor and manage assistant project managers, project engineers, and field teams.
- Promote a collaborative, accountability-driven, and solutions-oriented team culture.
- Provide training and professional development opportunities for team members.
Qualifications: Education & Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in healthcare construction project management.
- Proven experience delivering OSHPD/HCAI-regulated projects in California.
- Strong understanding of hospital renovations, acute care facilities, and outpatient medical centers.
Technical Skills: - Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and other project management tools.
- In-depth knowledge of MEP coordination, medical equipment installation, and infection control protocols.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, contracts, and healthcare facility regulations.
Leadership & Communication: - Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams, negotiate contracts, and manage client relationships.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client presentations and regulatory discussions.
Preferred Certifications: - OSHPD/HCAI Certification or Experience (Highly Preferred).
- Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) (Preferred).
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or CMAA Certification (Preferred).
