Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in underground wet utilities, including water, sewer, and storm drain infrastructure. This role will lead utility construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery. The ideal candidate has deep technical knowledge of underground utility systems, strong leadership capabilities, and experience coordinating with municipalities, utility companies, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities: Project Management & Execution
- Oversee planning, scheduling, and execution of underground wet utility projects, including new installations, replacements, and system upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with design plans, specifications, permits, and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with superintendents, foremen, inspectors, and utility providers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage procurement and delivery of pipe materials, structures, valves, fittings, and equipment.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Develop and maintain project budgets, cost reports, and forecasts.
- Review and approve vendor invoices, subcontractor pay apps, and change orders.
- Identify and mitigate potential cost overruns or delays.
Scheduling & Coordination
- Create and manage project schedules, tracking milestones and critical path items.
- Coordinate crew schedules, equipment needs, and material deliveries.
- Interface with city/county agencies, inspectors, and utility owners for inspections and approvals.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to OSHA standards, trench safety practices, and company safety policies.
- Conduct safety meetings, monitor site conditions, and support incident reporting and prevention.
Team Leadership & Communication
- Lead coordination meetings with project stakeholders, subcontractors, and field crews.
- Serve as the point of contact for clients, municipalities, and utility representatives.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation including daily logs, RFIs, submittals, and closeout packages.
Qualifications: Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in underground utility construction with at least 3 years in a project management role.
- Proven experience managing installation of water mains, sewer lines, storm drains, manholes, lift stations, and service laterals.
Technical Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, utility plans, and specifications.
- Proficiency in construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, HCSS, Microsoft Project, and Excel.
- Knowledge of trench shoring, dewatering, bypass systems, and utility testing/commissioning.
