Senior Superintendent – DSA Projects Location: Bay Area, CA

Position Overview A leading California general contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent with DSA project experience to oversee large-scale K-12 and higher education construction projects in the Bay Area. This role is responsible for leading complex field operations, managing multiple trades, and ensuring projects meet schedule, budget, and quality goals while maintaining strict compliance with DSA standards.
Key Responsibilities Field Leadership & Project Execution
  • Lead all onsite construction activities for DSA-regulated school and public sector projects.
  • Supervise and mentor Assistant Superintendents, foremen, and field staff.
  • Coordinate multiple trades and subcontractors to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Develop and implement short-interval schedules and look-ahead plans.
DSA Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
  • Ensure full compliance with California Division of the State Architect (DSA) regulations.
  • Coordinate inspections, approvals, and maintain thorough documentation for all DSA-required reports.
  • Monitor construction to ensure adherence to public works and education facility standards.
Safety & Quality Management
  • Enforce strict safety standards and promote a proactive safety culture on site.
  • Conduct routine inspections and implement quality control measures.
  • Identify potential risks or issues and implement corrective actions.
Team & Stakeholder Communication
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, engineers, and architects to resolve field issues.
  • Serve as the primary onsite contact for owners, consultants, and inspectors.
  • Maintain clear communication and reporting channels with project leadership.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of field experience on DSA-regulated school or higher education projects, with at least 5 years as a Superintendent or Senior Superintendent.
  • Strong knowledge of California public works codes, DSA regulations, and inspection processes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple trades and large crews on complex projects.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience with BIM coordination and project scheduling software preferred.
