Senior Estimator – Commercial Construction Location: San Francisco Bay Area
Industry: Commercial Construction
Type: Full-Time | Level: Senior
We pride ourselves on doing more than building spaces — we build trust, innovation, and long-term partnerships. We’re currently looking for an experienced, sharp, and strategic
Senior Estimator to join our Preconstruction team. This is a key role for someone who brings depth, leadership, and insight — and who’s excited to help shape the way we win work.
What You’ll Be Doing As a Senior Estimator, you’ll play a vital role during the design and pursuit phases of high-value and complex projects — often valued at $25M to $100M+. You’ll lead multiple estimates simultaneously, provide guidance to junior team members, and collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and trade partners. You’ll also help shape strategy, manage risk, and ensure every pursuit is set up for success.
Key responsibilities: - Lead estimating efforts across multiple pursuits with minimal oversight
- Assemble and present conceptual and detailed estimates across various markets and project types
- Develop strategic, client-facing proposals and value engineering options
- Mentor Estimators and Junior Estimators in technical skills and strategic thinking
- Conduct thorough drawing/spec reviews, identify scope gaps, and lead bid day strategy
- Build and maintain strong relationships with trade partners and clients
- Support procurement planning, pre-bid scheduling, and preconstruction strategy
- Act as the internal resource for unit costs, scope understanding, bid forms, and estimate reviews
- Provide input on market trends, escalation, lead times, and construction developments
What We’re Looking For You not only understand estimating inside and out — you know how to teach it, lead it, and improve it. You have a strong industry presence, trusted trade relationships, and a commitment to mentoring future talent. You're both strategic and hands-on, and bring clarity, confidence, and consistency to preconstruction.
Qualifications: - 10–20+ years of experience in commercial construction, including 3–5 years in a senior estimating role
- Demonstrated success managing estimating for large, complex, multi-phase projects
- Ability to lead multiple concurrent preconstruction efforts with confidence
- Expertise in conceptual budgeting, scheduling logic, and risk analysis
- Proficiency with MS Project, On-Screen Takeoff, and other estimating tools
- In-depth knowledge of MEPF systems and both ground-up and tenant improvement construction
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with clients and internal stakeholders
- A collaborative, mentoring-oriented leadership approach
