Position Overview A leading California general contractor is seeking an experienced
DSA Project Manager in Sacramento with the ability to
win new work and maintain strong client relationships. This role manages school and public sector projects from preconstruction through completion while actively supporting business development initiatives. The ideal candidate combines
project delivery expertise with a proven network in California education construction.
Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & Execution - Manage multiple DSA-regulated school and higher education projects, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Oversee project teams, including Superintendents, field engineers, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate with design teams, architects, and owners to resolve technical and scheduling issues.
- Ensure compliance with DSA regulations, public works standards, and project specifications.
Business Development & Client Relations - Develop and maintain strong relationships with school districts, owners, and consultants.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for new projects within existing client networks.
- Assist with proposals, pricing strategies, and presentations to win work.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during and after construction.
Financial & Contract Management - Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
- Administer contracts, change orders, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Monitor project performance and ensure profitability and client satisfaction.
Team Development & Mentorship - Mentor Assistant Project Managers and field staff.
- Promote collaboration, accountability, and best practices across projects.
Qualifications - 7+ years managing DSA-regulated K-12 or higher education construction projects.
- Proven success winning projects and developing strong client relationships in California.
- Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and contract administration.
- Strong knowledge of DSA codes, inspections, and compliance processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, and MS Project preferred.
