Job Title: Senior Superintendent – Healthcare Construction
Position Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Superintendent to lead field operations on complex healthcare construction projects, including hospitals, medical office buildings, and outpatient facilities. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of OSHPD/HCAI regulations, infection control standards, and healthcare-specific construction methodologies. This role is critical to ensuring safety, schedule, quality, and team coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead all on-site construction activities for healthcare projects from preconstruction through project completion
  • Ensure full compliance with HCAI/OSHPD requirements and infection control protocols (ICRA)
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field staff
  • Maintain and enforce safety standards and site cleanliness in compliance with company and regulatory standards
  • Manage project schedules and look-ahead plans; proactively mitigate delays and risks
  • Collaborate with project managers, owners, architects, and inspectors to ensure effective communication and timely decision-making
  • Conduct daily site meetings and generate detailed progress reports and field documentation
  • Implement quality control procedures and oversee inspections
  • Serve as the primary field liaison for hospital administrators, facilities teams, and user groups during active healthcare operations
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in construction with at least 5 years in a Superintendent role
  • Demonstrated success managing healthcare construction projects, including OSHPD/HCAI-compliant work
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, codes, and infection control standards
  • Proven leadership managing complex, occupied site renovations and new construction
  • Exceptional communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and field reporting tools
  • OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid certification required
  • ICRA training or certification strongly preferred
Preferred Experience:
  • Ground-up hospital or medical office building projects valued at $20M+
  • Experience in working within operational healthcare facilities
  • Design-build or CMGC delivery experience
  • Union or open-shop environments (as applicable)
