Position Overview A leading general contractor is seeking an experienced
Senior Superintendent with healthcare construction experience to lead complex hospital and medical facility projects in the Sacramento region. This role is responsible for driving field execution, managing large teams, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with strict healthcare regulations.
The ideal candidate has experience working in
active or occupied healthcare environments and understands the complexities of infection control, phasing, and MEP-intensive construction.
Key Responsibilities Field Leadership & Execution - Lead all onsite construction activities from mobilization through project completion.
- Manage Assistant Superintendents, field engineers, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate multiple trades and ensure efficient sequencing of work.
- Develop and manage short-interval schedules and look-ahead plans.
Healthcare & Regulatory Compliance - Ensure compliance with healthcare construction standards and inspection processes governed by California Department of Health Care Access and Information.
- Implement and monitor ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment) and Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM).
- Manage work in occupied facilities, including shutdowns and tie-ins.
Quality & Safety Oversight - Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on site.
- Conduct regular inspections and ensure high-quality construction execution.
- Partner with QA/QC teams to maintain compliance and standards.
Team & Stakeholder Coordination - Collaborate with Project Managers, design teams, and consultants.
- Serve as the primary onsite contact for owners, hospital staff, and inspectors.
- Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and daily field briefings.
- Mentor and develop junior field staff.
Qualifications - 10+ years of construction experience, with significant healthcare project experience.
- Proven track record as a Lead or Senior Superintendent on hospital or medical facility projects.
- Experience working in active healthcare environments.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems and complex interiors.
- Excellent leadership, scheduling, and problem-solving skills.
